i do big dl's while streaming my itunes library. the speed is needed.

No it doesn't, pre-n and 802.11g have much greater range and speed.802.11b actually has the same range as Pre-N
@BigBDrugStores: Do you have a pre-n network card, or are you just using a pre-n router?

802.11a has a range of ~50 Meters
802.11b has a range of ~100 Meters
802.11g has a range of ~100 Meters
802.11n (pre-n) has a range of ~250 Meters.

Too bad the technology won't be finalized until summer of 07, so anything pre-N right now may have huge compatability issues when it officially comes out. I have a boosted 802.11G network and I get full signal almost 350ish feet omni directional. There are a few dead spots I have found though due to some sort of interference.

yeah, that does suck. i wasnt even gonna get anything pre-n because of it, then i saw a pcmcia and router combo at best buy for 100 bucks and i couldnt resist. i went in to pick up a pcmcia g card to use on my sisters borrowed router and left with my own. but it works awesome and i dont plan on buying anything else till this one dies. so pren should suit me for a while.
