Hi All

I have a v weird question...
I am building a new pc at the mo (hardware - Asus A8n-e mobo, ati radeonx1800xt, crucial ddr ram, maxtor sata 2 250gd hdd, coolermaster 532 with both fans and a gold 500w ultra quiet psu). Unfortuately the b**ger wont boot!!!! Don't get it! The fans all fire up for a milli second but ever get going. I have had the hdd, cpu and memory checked by a third party - all fine, am on my second psu - cos the last one had a dodgy connector and second mobo - the last one was a asrock duel agp/pci e board but I thought it was broken cos it did the same thing!!!!!
I can't for the life of me fathom it - any ideas?
I do not have a floppy in there - would that matter?
All components are new except the memory

Any ideas pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Jelboy

Make sure the power supply is hooked up correctly to the motherboard (including the additional 4-pins), and to all the drives and the video card. Also make sure that your motherboard is sitting on the "gold screws", and not just on the motherboard, since this may cause it to short. Also make sure everything is secured correctly, and everything is plugged in.

resit the ram, psu cables, and make sure the case switch is plugged into the motherboard securely.
sounds like a bad psu or motherboard to me...
of course, the same thing happened to my uncles computer, for some reason it would turn on at his house, and then when i got it to my house it did just what you described... when we brought it back to his house it worked fine.
NOTE: make sure the psu is set to the correct voltage for where you live...
i think europe is 230V and North America is normally 115V...

yep check on the psu when you definatly sure, (i mean absolutly) becasue there might be a switch were u can change the voltage depending on country, but if you change it and you not in that area. BOOM!!!, well actually, POP!!!

more

doods

please give me some credit!

I am asking if you know anyhtiong I don't

v frustrated

I live in the uk, bought the psu form a uk company etc

The mobo has a green power light on like its in soft off or standby BUT WONT BOOT!!!

Any decent, non obvious ideas p[lease!?

You could have D.O.A. mobo or other parts, maybe you overlooked something pretty easy, also the reason most people are pointing out all the little things is because it usually is something pretty simple in the first place.
