The Millionth "Help Me Build A Gaming Rig" Thread

I'm looking to build a fairly nasty gaming / designing rig in the $900 - 1200 range. I've built a computer before but by no means am an expert and have been out of the loop for a while as far as latest GFX cards and some other equipment go.

Another side question, I'd like to build this pc in a micro box just for spacial issues, will this be a problem with the desired gear I need?

Here's an idea of what I'm thinking, please help me out.

This combo deal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.755235 (I'm under the impression i7 quad core is awesome, and the bundle is pretty sweet.)

GFX card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102940

Im mostly wondering if the above setup would be a fair gaming rig and recommendations on different micro cases.

Possible other case option: http://www.xoxide.com/aspire-x-qpack-black.html

I would also upgrade to 8gb ram instead of the 4gb in the package, and also need a 22' screen or so, if anyone knows any good deals

Thanks for ANY responses, and thanks for reading.

What games do you want to play? The 6770 is by no means rubbish, but not 'nasty' lol.

You will also need WIndows, thermal paste, a better cooler for the CPU and a DVD drive.

@ bigfella

I really only play league of legends and alot of photoshopping. I'm also waiting for diablo3 to drop but that's about it. Ill be sure to add thermal paste and a DVD drive and do you mean a better fan cooler?

Also is it possible to install windows via external or flash drive?

Many thanks

He means a heat sink and fan to sit on your cpu to keep it cool.

And yes you can. There is a guide on the forum for booting to an OS setup from flash drive. Just use the search feature.

I have a 5770 which is the same as a 6770. It would do absolutely fine with LOL maxed and should handle Diablo 3 with ease. Blizzard is pretty good about keeping System Requirements pretty low.

If you're in that budget I would suggest upping to a 6850 or GTX 560 / GTX 560 TI. 6770 is fine but if you've got the money, might as well get something that will last longer.

Isn't the 560/560ti a good chunck more expensive than the 6850, i know over in the UK it is.

Denther is on the right lines though, the 5770/6770 are top cards for the price, but if you can up your budget to get a 6850 or gtx 460 i would say go for it.

(i say gtx 460 as over here there the same price as 6850's)
