I have a Samsung S850.

Good camera.

Recently, it started turning on, being fine, and shutting off.

It happens with rechargeable batteries and brand new batteries.

It might be dust in the camera...
Making it switch off when the dust is on the wire...

Perhaps the battery save auto shut off is playing up.
