The Biggest Battery Drain

What do you find to be the biggest battery drain? Could it be playing a game? downloading a video or running a live wallpaper? From my own experience I would say it's downloading a video. And you?

I've got a flashlight app on my Lumia and whenever I use it for more than about 5 minutes the battery goes right down. I would say that is the biggest battery drainer on my phone (though the flashlight is pretty bright).

I would have to say games would be the most taxing on battery life, but having your screen at max brightness can be just as bad.

It's a flashlight app. It's not supposed to entertain you.

Two points:

1) I got it to see how useful it can be. The fact that I got bored with it speaks for itself.

2) When you read the product descriptions, it's apparent that some of the apps are set up for entertainment purposes ("beautiful", "police lights").

So you got a flashlight app just to be entertained with it? Lame.

I can already tell this thread is gong to crash and burn.

My phone randomly decides to get super hot and kill it's battery in like 30 mins from a half charge to zero. Does it a few times a week. Screen is so hot I can barely hang on to it. This just happens when it's on standby.

You're wrong there. Me and Luke know each other well and I can tell he's just playing.

Getting closer to on-topic, my phone doesn't have those described problems, maybe because of my battery. My biggest problem is the wall charger which will be eventually replaced.

I have a Galaxy S3 and my friend's S2 does a similar thing. Wouldn't be surprised if that's just an issue with them. It's not too often and I can normally catch it if it's in my pocket. Restarting it fixes the problem so if my pants start smoldering I know to restart my phone.

:D

Wow, you guys serious? Haven't had this with any of my android phones (HTC Legend, Xperia Play, and Galaxy Nexus). Although...now that I think about it..My Galaxy Nexus has a couple times drained itself from like 80% to flat overnight, while turned right off. But that's like twice in the year I've had it, and it's never done it while turned on or in standby. Maybe Samsung is having some issues with their power systems..

I find it funny this being posted in the computer section and EVERYONE is talking about phones. Guess that confirms that most people nowadays have pretty much moved to phones for mobile computing =P I'm the same, the only time I take a laptop with me anymore is if I'm gone for days at a time.

I'd have to say my phone is one battery guzzler. I have to charge it once every 8-10 hours, depending on my phones mood :P

I'm in that part of the year where the weather warms up so as a result, my smartphone battery overheats. I just turn on my air conditioner which cools off the battery (btw my electricity is free).
