Teaching someone about computers?

So I have a weird question for you all. I have this person who has asked me to teach them about computers. Basically go through all the components of a computer, how the components work, how to build a PC, and that kind of stuff. This person wishes to learn more about computers, build their own PC and eventually get their bachelor of science in computing. I believe she wishes to own her own computer shop one day.

My questions are:
1) How would you go about teaching a person these things?
2) How much detail would you go into?
3) Would you teach them with a more hands on approach or mainly document approach?

Any of your opinions and suggestions are much appreciated.

1 & 3 - Definitely hands on

2 - You should go into good detail if you feel she is wanting to go that deep into computers.

Some people may be harder to teach than others though. I basically self taught myself how to build and troubleshoot systems.

Ya same here. I mean so far what I have used for learning is Google, computerforum.com, and books. Not to mention trial and error.

I'm just trying to understand how I am going to go about teaching her the right way so she doesn't get lost in it, so all the information is absorbed and so it's all in the proper steps for her to understand.

(By the way, right now I'm in the midst of being on YouTube learning about PHP code, lol)

I had a friend that wanted to learn stuff and I directed him here. I learned probably 80 percent of my computer knowledge from here and the rest from real world experience and other avenues on the internet. As far as downright teaching that may be a little different. At the risk of seeming like a cop out you could direct them here and have them just start asking questions or simply lurking and reading as much as they can. Works for many members. I learn stuff from other forums as well without being a member, but just reading.
