Tavelling Help

Ok I will be travelling to India 19th June 2009
and I have to take my desktop with me to India its very important since my bro who is 17 will be shifting to India for College so It is completely necessary...

So
how do I take this it 20Kg all I measured??
I was thinking about taking out the GPU and CPU and RAM and hardrive in Bubble Wrap in Cabin baggage and leave the PSU and MOBO attatched to the casing and then packing the case nicely using thermokole(dont know how to spell it:o) In its original HAF 932 Carton and putting it in luggage
Please tell me how to take it
BTW courier is extremely expensive about USD 350

Yeah I would take whatever parts you can in carry on baggage. Kesava, another member on this forum, took his computer with him to India from Australia, but left his case behind I believe and bought a new one when he got there, he might see this thread and reply. He took a few things in carry on with him so it should be fine. He told me he doesn't really trust the Indian postal service, once when I sent him something it got lost in the mail so I would advise against posting it over.
I think leaving the mobo and PSU in the case then wrapping it up well would be fine, they would be fairly well protected, I would be more concerned about the case getting a dent or something.

Well I also wont be able to affor courier and will my mobo be alright or do you think i should fill in my case with something so no jerks for the mobo and and PSU

Put things into their original cases, or if your traveling via air you might be able to the the tower as carry on, but its prolly gonna cost some overage due to weight... If you do it via luggage, go for hdd as carryon in an antistatic bag and bubblewrap. Take the heatsink off the cpu as the weight from flexing could damage something. Remove your gpu and also pack it with antistatic bag and bubblewrap, or put into orignal packaging.

yes traveling via air (the onlyway sea takes 15 days)
The cabin baggage has some dimension restrictions so i dont think i will be able to carry them as cabin baggage

Well, maybe you might wanna think about removing everything from case, and then taking mobo/cpu/vga/hdd/etc as carryon in orignal boxes?

I was actually thinking of letting the mobo remain on the Case and PSU also then put it in haf's original carton and fill it with packing will that work or will i hahve to take the mobo in separately
and what about the PSU its pretty heavy should i take it in cabin baggage or in luggage

I would take whatever you can in cabin, due to what happens if your luggage gets lost? Id rather lose just a case than case/mobo/psu;)

well the lugage is insured by airline if you consider that then what all can i put in the lugage

PSU, Case, id keep mobo, memory, and harddrive onboard with you. Optical drive could go in luggage. Id keep all the motherboard accessories and whatnot onboard with you.

in the worst case, ask airport authorities with your problem and the will definitely end you up with a solution. m too from India,
warm welcome when you arrive here
enjoy your stay.

I just moved from the US to New Zealand, and I took my computer with me. I took everything out of the case, bubbled wrapped everything, put everything but the PSU in carry-on, and put the PSU, monitor, and keyboard in the luggage surrounded by soft clothes and whatnot. The weight limit for the luggage was 2 bags/50 lbs each... mine were 49.5 lbs each. :D

How longer are you planning to stay in India?? This time, there is summer in India, and weather is quite hot.
Anyway, welcome to India??
