T1 Speed question

I keep getting different answers on this.

Now first thing im going to have to ask, when we download something, is the browser showing us speed in kilobits or kilobytes generally? just because it says KB (which capitol means byte) not everyone knows that when they write it, or takes it into consideration.

so heres the real question, a t1 is 1.544 megabits. So if I have a server on a t1 will people be downloading from me at 1,500 KB/s max (according to what we see in the browser) or will it max out at 192 KB/s?

Im going to guess 192KB/s is the rate, but that would be absolutely worthless at $500 a month when upgraded cable service can go 100 KB/s for an extra $10.
 
T1 is 1.544Mbps. So your download speed will be around 197KBps.

And when your downloading something, that is KB, not Kb. But your rated internet speed is Kb/Mb, not KB/MB.
 
For personal use yes, the good thing about it is that its a direct connect to your ISP, so your not sharing the speed with your neighbors. And it also has the same upload speed, which is very important if your hosting a server or for corporate businesses.
