system temp & cpu temp

are both running higher and higher each and everyday. yesterday I cleaned out all my fans and the temps still keep rising. im not playing any games nor is my CPU at full load. Room temp is the same as well.

In fact today I was thnking about mounting a 80mm fan as exaust and mounting it where the cpu sucks in air. is that a bad idea? I have an 80mm intake and an 80 mm exaust.

any thoughts?

thanks guys!

How hot is it running exactly? Mabe if it's a brand new system, the parts are still "sentelling in". If not, well you should check to make sure your thermal paste or compound isn't failing. I'm sure if you get better cooling that would fix it. Or you can get some thermal paste (Artic Silver 5 recommended) to make your present cooling device more effient.

right now...
system:24C
CPU:29C

now thats about 6C hotter than about 3 weeks ago...keep in mind the build was about 2 months ago.

I took the heatsink off about a week ago and cleaned the hell out of it...would that possibly loose the thermal compound?

Thanks for the help

Don't worry about it, thats not hot at all, worry when the CPU reaches 50*C. (depending on CPU some can go hotter, but thats a bad ideal). My temps are about the same on idle. My CPU reaches around 40 underlaod wich is ok. (although I wouldn't mind getting a new cooling unit ;))

EDIT:

About that, is it just a pad that came with the heatsink? Those aren't very efficient but they'll do, unless you want to overclock. If you plan on replacing the compound, make sure you use rubing alchool to remove any residual of the old compound.

Click ON user CP on the top for option like that ;)

hey got your edit message...yes it was a pad that came with heatsink...so if i ever remove my heatsink for cleaning I have to add thermal compound?

If that is the case. how much?

I have been told it is very delicate to add thermal compound...should i just buy a new heatsink w/thermal compound already pre-added?

thanks

I don't think all that is necessary, but if you want to you can get a better heatsink/fan and buy a seperate heat compound (like Artic Silver 5 seems to be the best). If you don't plan on overclocking, the stock heatsink and pad will do the job.

EDIT: About it being delicate, I think what you've been told is not put to much, or else the compound will ooze out all over your motherboard, and CPU pins or what-not!

testing sig..my avatar doesnt work?:(
The picture has to be a certain size in bytes, and a certain pixel size.
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).
That's written on the bottom of the Avatar section. Mabe thats why it doesn't work, you might have to resize it. Or it could also be because your trying to put a picture directly from your computer. That won't work, you need to put the picture on the internet somewheres. http://imageshack.us/ is a website that allows you to uplaod a picture so you can put it in a Avatar.

I am not sure what you are asking but PC Wizard 2006 is a good program for testing temps. :D
