system restore

I have tried several times to use sytem restore only to be told that it could not do it . Also my computer will only shut down if i hold down the button .
can any one help.

A good place to start is by clean up the system, remove unused programs, update drivers, update your software. This typically fixes shutdown issues that are caused by software issues which yours likey is. You can CCleaner and dial-a-fix to rake care of most of the clean up and be sure the proper system ffiles are registered.
