everytime when i turn on my laptop i get the error message saying there is a dupliate name exist on the net work.

Does anybody know what is going on?

Are you at home? School? Work? How is the network set up usually this isnt a problem but can be just need to know what you are using first.
 
i am in college.

it is just annoying to get that message everythime i urn on my computer.

Change the computer name. If you right click on My Computer you will see the tab there for Network Identification or whatever it's called (I'm tired and my XP machine is being used at the moment).
 
Yea sounds to me like someone has another name like that on the network change the name and if does not work contact it and see if someone has a similar ip or soemthing
