Switch Question

Hello people can someone please explain what would happen if you had a 1000baseT switch connecting 2 Lans based 100baseT technology to a server stored in a different location via a Fibre Optic Cable.

Would the 1000baseT switch default to 100baseT speed or would it still be able to send the information from the 2 100baseT lans across to the server at full 1000baseT speed.

the gigabit switch will run at gigabit to any gigabit device connected to it but to the 100mbit networks, only 100mbits will be used. It's like 100baseT connected to 10baseT

Just think this. You network is only as fast as it slowest point.
