Switch from Wireless to Wired

Right now I have 3 computers hooked up on a wireless-b network. This is extremely slow and instead of upgrading to wireless-g or MIMO I've decided to run wires. How much would it cost to have someone come and wire my house and what do I need for it?

Why would you pay someone to do that? Do you want the wires to run through the walls and floors? If you dont really care about that, you can buy cable yourself and just connect them, it will be a lot cheaper. You can buy 100' of pre-made cable for around $8 on newegg.

Unless your transferring large files, 802.11g or 802.11pre-n would be more than enough.

Yea but I have 4 computers hooked up to wireless and all of them would have to be replaced with wireless-g stuff. Its about $300 to do all that.

ok well like geoff said, if you're okay with running wires yourself, you can do it for probably less than $40, you'll need to buy wire, rj-45 connectors, and a crimp for the rj-45's. To pay someone to come in and do that would probably be in the hundreds of dollars. If you're connecting to a router, the cat-5's should be made straight-through. You can look up the difference between straight-through, crossover, and rollover all over the place online and see what connects to what if you don't have a router for some reason.
