Surround Sound questions

Ok, in a previous post I mentioned having sound issues, but I did get my sound somewhat working in applications and such, but I have a few more questions that I need to address.

First off, the only speakers that seem to be working are my left and right center speakers and subwoofer. I have a center speaker, and two rear left and right speakers that are not working in any applications but when I do a speaker test using the speaker setup program I get a signal going to all of the speakers.

What could be causing this? I need to get all of my speakers working at least for when I watch movies.

Hum...
Sounds like it's some stereo settings. But I guess you have thought about that a loooong time before me.
What applications have you tried it in?

Well its in anything. I tried in Zune, Call of Duty, startup and shutdown noises, everything is coming over as only stereo. Although, again, when I do the test sounds it does play each individual speaker correctly.

Its a cmedia onboard sound CM6501. I tried changing it in guitar hero but I dont see an option to do it anywhere. Is there an option for COD?

What speakers do you have, how are u connecting them? What fileformats have you tried? Do you have AC3/equivalent filters installed?

I have the creative labs Inspire 6.1 speakers and I have tried both music and movies. It connects using the green orange and yellow cable that corresponds to the outputs on the back of the computer. I dont know what the filters are??
