Hey guys, well I just boguth some Logitech X-540 speakers. I have onboard 8 channel RealTek HD Audio ALC883 codec and I have a problem. On my driver's test, all speakers are channelled individually and correctly so I know my speakers are hooked up and workng correctly. My problem is in Media center (2005) when I setup my speakers as 5.1, and when I run the test, the same sound comes from all speakers. Like it doesnt channel the right front>right back. It is playing the same sound through all speakers at the same time. I also have this problem in CounterStrike:Source. My windows control panel is configured for 5.1, my driver is configured for 5.1, and all settings are correct. I'm truly at a loss for what to do. Please help me!

Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Have you checked to see if you have the drivers installed correctly or that maybe the settings are set to mono for all the speakers?

doesnt that happen unless u use an optical cable?
if your not already, use a toslink or coxial cable. if yours speakers dont support that, you wont get real surround from them unless you're hooking the speakers up individually to the sound source via actual SPEAKER cable (not the 3.5 headjack cable)

Nope.

In fact, the only surround sound that can pass through a digital cable is AC3 encoded dolby digital or DTS, both of which can be decoded by your sound card instead of an external processor.
