superg vs rangemax

hi guys
my router right now sucks because my dad downstairs barely has signal atm ive got a netgear super g wireless router but i was wondering are the netgear rangemax any better will my dad get full signal if i change

You do know that in order to use the super-g mode, all the clients connected to it also have to have a super-g adapter, otherwise the router "dumbs" itself down to just the standard 802.11g mode.
 
i know but my dad has got super g adapter and all pep on it for that matter, im just asking is the rangemax better than the router i ahve atm i have a super g
 
Ya, sorry I got off topic there. I havent personally used either, but their technology is basically the same, they just use multiple channels to transmit the packets from the router. So I would say unless the rangemax router has a higher dBi antenna(s), there wouldn't be a difference.

A cheap solution would be to get a broadcom based router (linksys or buffalo) and load some third party firmware to boost the WRT signal. I have a WRT54GL boosted and broadcasting about 500+ feet omni directional in my apartment building.

I would hold off on buying an N, its not scheduled to be finalized until summer 2007.
