sudden sound problems

okay so i just re installed my OS, and i re installed all the drivers, but now my sound isn't good at all. it like studders and pauses. it didn't do that before i re installed everything. and i tried uninstalling the drivers but i get the same thing. i thought it was windows media player 11, so i went to 9 and its the same. any suggestions?

well see, the thing about that. the drivers i installed last time i had saved on my second harddrive, but during the new installation while i was making a new partition, i accidently wiped my entire second harddrive. so, i went to the intel site for my motherboard to get the sound drivers. so i don't know if i had a different version or not.

that's where i got my drivers from. and its the same one that i had last time. it hasnt been updated since 2007..this is getting really annoying. can you guys think of any other reason this might happen? the sound is even screwed up when i log in and it plays that welcome-to-windows chime that it does when you load xp.

This will happen some times when proper driver is not installed. Format the os one more time then problem will solved

It's the bus driver for High definition audio. If its not installed the sound driver won't install properly. Most motherboard these days have it.

well, it doesn't work with my board. i try installing it but it said its not supported. and i've reinstalled my OS, and it got a little better, but still...any chance its my audio cable? i dont have another to test it so i dont know

Your board does in fact have high definition audio. Look in device manager under system devices and see if there is one or more items labeled "microsoft uaa bus driver for high definition audio".

no. i know i have high definition audio. but i tried installing the drivers but it said it didnt support.

i checked and i dont have that in my device manager though
