Hey, any way of stopping the computer from doing the "insert" thing without me actually pressing the button? There's never been a time in my life that I have ever intentionally used it anyway, but it keeps kicking on and I don't know why or what I could be doing to cause it, because I'm not even near the bugger, on the keyboard.

I'll be typing something up on Wordpad and I'll put the cursor somewhere in the middle of a paragraph, say, and I start typing and then notice it's writing over everything. I'll have to press the insert button to click it off, but why is it kicking on? Why? WHY?!!

...It's a small thing, but it's aggravating me, lately, thought I'd ask.

Is this on a laptop?

Your talking about the PrtScn/Insert keyboard button?

Ok, just let me get what your problem is then. While typing, you have a problem of hitting the "insert" key, in which you begin writing over everything that you were originally typing?

Well for a desktop, i can't see how this is done because on most keyboards they place the "insert" key away from common keys. Plus you must hold Ctrl + Insert.

Now with a laptop on the other hand, it is possible to hit it unnoticed. I myself have a habit (when on my laptop) be typing and my thumb resting by my space bar waiting to click, will hit my keypad and click me where ever my cursor is. Don't think this is what your doing, but something to watch out for. As for the insert key, i do believe that there is a "function lock" capability on laptops. I'll have to wait till i get home tonight to respond on how. But this would get rid of it, until unlocked.

Just for reference, what kind of laptop are you using? Do you think there is anything wrong with your keyboard? Is it just a standard keyboard (button placement)?

Never ran into this type of problem before, but ill try and figure it out for ya.
