static in sound

I have a Turtle Beach Riviera 5.1 Channel sound card connected to Logitech X-530s. Whenever the speakers are on and connected to my computer, there is static. It sounds the same as it would if you touched one of the speaker wires to the (metal) computer case. On the back of the card there are 4 ports, center/sub, mic, front, and back channels. The problem seems to be with either the front or the back channel (I don't know which one is which, it is the green one) Whenever I plug one of the 3 jacks into the port, the static comes out. Depending on how far the plug is into the port, it either comes out on the left, the right or both sides.

This is very hard to explain, but I hope you know what I am talking about.

P.S. I turned off any possible sources of radio interference, so it isn't that

P.P.S. This all started when I plugged a cord into the green port on my computer and plugged the other end into my laptop mic port so that I could listen to the music just from my lappy. I first noticed it then.

P.P.P.S. I accidently plugged the above cord first into the headphones port on my lappy instead of the mic port.(the tiny symbols are hard to read) Could that have done this?

OK, now I have figured some things out. The static is coming from all channels, including back and sub. With the volume on, the static is very loud from all channels. If I unplug the front channel, it becomes very quiet. (and not just because there are 2 less speakers) If I mute the volume, the static is still there, just almost silent.

There is also a strange noise coming out of the sub, that almost sounds like some kind of electronic beeping.

But the static coming from the rest of the speakers is the same as if I touched the speaker wires to metal.

Please help me :confused:
