Start From Scratch

I have a laptop computer and I like it.

However it came with lots of nasty stuff on it that is useless, it's very slow and I don't like it one bit.

I'm not very good with computers but would it be possible for me to just format the hard drive, get myself a simple operating system and start over? Things were so much simpler when I just had word, powerpoint, movie maker, firefox, iTunes and photoshop on windows xp, back in the day. I don't want anything else!

If it is older technology, then you should be able to put Win XP on it. Newer stuff might not have XP drivers for it, check your manufacturers website to see if they made XP drivers for that hardware.

Most likely, a Linux distribution will run on it just fine. Do a search for your laptops model number and Linux and you'll find out who has put what distribution on that model, and probably a few tutorials on how to get the most from the installation.

Does it have win 7 or what? It's not win7's fault, its all the bloatware. Did it come with any windows installations discs?
