Speed loss in routing?

if you are talking about internet speed, and you are sharing the connection between more than one computer then you will lose some speed, because by definition you are sharing
 
Actually, a router can speed up your connection because it stores the computers Mac and IP address. That pretty much means the router won't be spending so much time searching for your computers address like a hub would.
 
A router can not speed up your internet connection, if anything it would slow it down then just using the modem. Although it probably is faster than a hub. Like posted before, you are sharing your internet connection between computers, so if someone is downloading or playing a game on one computer, the internet connection will be slower on the other computer(s).
