Try your speakers onto a home stereo system. If they work well, then your sound card is the problem. No matter where it is on a PCI slot, they should all work proprely

PCI slots can be bad, trust me, when you have a lot of them(5-6), 1 or 2 don't work (usually)

WTH?!? Then how come they plot 5-6 of them without testing them all?

I think it is more the PCI controller, that it can only control 4 devices at once, if you have to many it gets overloaded, or something like that.

But anyway, all that I was saying was that it COULD, not that it IS

Well, I have 2 PCI slots and they work all correctly, but I think he should change the PCI slot.

They should really add a second PCI slot controller

I feel that a bad pci slot is actualy indeed a rare thing. I have seen perfectly good working cards though fail to work in one slot but work in another while the previous slot was still a good functioning slot for somthing else.

I would uninstal the drivers for whatever cards you have there and switch them about and reinstal drivers and then I'd cross my fingers ;-). if the slot appears to work after this but the card still does not function then return it for an exchange. This is assuming of course that you test your speakers and they turn out to be functioning ok which really should be the first step.

They really don't need one for the newer comps woth only 2-3 PCI slots, but my old one has 5 PCI, 3 ISA, and 1AGP. It's about 1m tall:rolleyes:
