Speakers and headset

I have a problem with my headset. Whenever I plug in my headset the audio doesn't go through it, for example the music keep playing from speakers. Every time I want to use the headset I have to set it as default device.

Any fix?
 
Are you trying to plug your headphones into a mix amp? Or are you taking the jack from your speakers out and then plugging your headphones in to their, or are you taking the headphones and plugging them into a different audio plug while the speakers are still in?
 
This reminds me of my troubles with hdmi. I got a gateway fx computer that would not auto switch the audio to hdmi when it was plugged in, even though it recognized in the sound device manager whether it was plugged in or not. I ended up having to get a new one, which was a slightly newer model and it did auto change. 1 friend and a can of soda later I had to get a new laptop and I got the one in my sig and it does not auto change.

It still takes 1 click in the system tray but it is much more convenient, if it works on win7.
