whenever i switch on my speaker straight away or after a few seconds my left speaker makes a loud background noise, ive tried swapping the left and right speakers still makes the noise, ive unplugged it from the mains still makes the noise, also ive plugged in my headphones into it and when i plug them in the noise diassapears.
its not my sound card because when i unplug the speaker to the soundcard it still makes the noise

Sounds like your speaker is blown at least i think thats the problem. Can you hear any other noise except the background noise or is it basically quiet?

Check the wires for the speaker, too. There might be some exposed wire that's picking something up, but I'd also say the speaker is blown...

Is the metallic heads of the speaker jacks touching anything metal, such as your case? That would make the speaker make wierd noise.

can you describe that noise? loud background noise when switching on? how loud is it? is it because you have the volume really high?

People, if the speaker is blown, it'll basically just rattle really bad...

My first thought was a failing amp. Though, last amp that died for me just gave a loud "THUMP" when I powered my speakers, and then nothing else afterwards...

Would it be possible to connect some other power supply to your speakers? I don't know how they get power, but if it's just your typical 12v DC "power box" maybe you could find another that has about the same specs?

its fcuked unless my dad and i can find a circuit diagram/block diagram of the pcb board, because my dad thinks its a dodgy ic or capacitor.
but if he cant fix it il get the logitech z-2300
