Speaker crackle?

Howdy,

Just recently my left speaker started making a cracking noise. It is continuous, and occurs even when nothing is playing. In addition, it increases in volume as I adjust the volume of the speakers. It sounds like morse code or something.

Any idea's as to what is causing it?

Thanks,
CMA

You know my speakers seem to pick up a radio station now. At first I thought only poorly made ones did, but mine didn't used to. I beleive it's how the wires are behind my desk or something... This only began after I took my computer out for a while and recently put it back.

I remember that my old guitar teacher's pick-ups were so sensitive that he got feed-back whenever he got a phone call and on a few occasions you could here the calls through the amp.......

I remember that his pick-ups were so sensitive that he could just have his hand near the pick-ups and he would get some feedback.......

That'd kind of be awkward and suck a little... You'd have to whack the volume down when you weren't playing all the time.

If you ever played guitar before, you would find a lot of the FX peddles create a lot of feedback when the guitar is idle in the form of an electical hum. It's really the price you have to pay to play quality music.

I've been playing 2 1/2 years. I've got a Zoom GFX-3 pedal, and it doesn't create a lot of feedback, only when I have the gain up and hold the guitar's pickups near the amp.

So to play good music you've got to have over-sensitive pickups and an effects pedal that gives you feedback when you don't play. Don't think so some how!

I meant nothing of the sort; however, you can hear a huge difference between a $150 guitar with ho-hum pickups and, say, a Fender Strat or a Scheter(spelling?) with diamond pick-ups and I know for a fact that Boss's distortion and 'metal zone' FX pedals have a TON of feedback when you're not playing........

Also, notice how I said 'quality' and not good because 'good' implies talent while I implied with quality was the overall production and amplification of the sound; like listening to a song at 16 kbps versus it played at 320 kbps.......

Yeah, you can tell the difference between an Ok guitar and a Great guitar... I can see your point... I guess I just misunderstood you a little, my bad :P

No problem. I myself have a Scheter Omen-6 that comes with a pair of humbuckers(spelling?) that's suppose to silence most of the feedback although, I forgot the actual mechanics behind it........
