Sounds not working, where is the problem?

Hi!
The sounds of my laptop just broke down yesterday, and I have no clue what to do.
I was watching an online video just like normally, and suddenly the voices started cracking and there were long silent pauses when the voices did not work at all.
Today f.e youtube videos sound much, much quieter than normal, even though the sounds are on the maximal volume, and weirdly if I watch movies etc. I can only hear the music, not the talking.
Other sounds such as the message alert sound on messenger work normally.
So where could the problem be? Computer? virus? Headphones? (have been listening trough headphones all the time)

Probably a broken wire in the headphones. Do you have another set of headphones to try? Do you have anything else you can plug the headphones into and see if they are working?

Does the sound work fine without the headphones ?
If it does, then it's most likely a problem with the headphones or possibly the headphone port on the laptop.
