soundcard or front jack?

Sometimes, my desktop has problem with the sound. I use a earpiece that is plug into the front jack of the computer, tried to change earpiece but still got same problem. The problem is the sound will be 'distorted' and can hear zzzz in the background. This does not always happen. My back jack is spoiled so i only left with front one. So is it the sound card that is spoiled or the front jack?
 
Make sure the its plugged in all the way first. Whats wrong with the jack in the back?
 
it is not your front panel, alot of internal cheap sound cards make this annoying noise whils't playing through ac97 or hd audio to front panel, i would buy better soundcard, most have adapters to connect to front panel aswell
