EDIT: fixed the problem..don't need to help me lol. if anyone's curios, solved it by turning hardware acceleration from max to basic.
well, I solved my problem found here: http://www.computerforum.com/75812-audio-skipping-some-games.html
by going out and spending $32 or so on a Soundblaster Audigy SE. cheap card, and solved the problem completely. Not only that, but it gave me a tremendous performance increase in Oblivion. cool stuff. It comes with its own set of problems though. In Oblivion, nearly all sounds that aren't evironmental or background noises come through in a weird way. It's like the sound card is trying to make them sound more 3-Dish, but instead it sounds like they're being played through a glass window. I know it's hard to describe. Also, when I click menu buttons in Oblivion, or when I click a link in Internet explorer, the clicking noise is "doubled." Again..difficult to explain. It's not like it's played once, and then played again, but rather that there are two of them being played simultaniously over themselves...one out of each speaker. I'd like to use this card..it was really cheap and did exactly what I needed it to..just wish it wasn't doing this. =/
BTW, this seems to me like it would be an EAX problem, but I unchecked the "Enable Audio Effects" box, and pretty much every feature. The speaker setup panel is setup for 2 stereo speakers, which I use.
Please..any help?
EDIT: pretty much any "click" type noise has that doubling problem.
