Will a better sound card make the computer sound louder? The computer sound is adjusted to max, but, when I hit the mixer button, it shows a verticle bar graph. You can watch the bar graph move up and dpwn to the sound. The bar graph never gets above, what I call fifty percent, why doesn't it go to max?

On the control panel, I looked at sound, nothing I could find to adjust. It ran a little test, says everything is working fine.
 
Get some better speakers. A new sound card won't specifically make the computer louder.
 
I should have clarified, I use headphones. As far as trying to use the computer speaker, never could hear anything. I can plug-in speakers, but, have to hold speaker to my ear, to hear it, so headsphones are better for me. As far as loudness, different headphones are louder even without volumn control. I have used a headphone amplifier, currently have that hooked up to the television. thanks
