Sound won't play.

I first had this problem a few weeks ago and now it just happened for the third time. I will turn my computer on and all of a sudden audio files won't play. I'll go into iTunes click the song and it will show up but won't play. I've went to other websites and tried playing system sounds and nothing works.

When I go to troubleshooting it says to load Device Manager and it says there's a problem with my SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio the device status is "This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

The Troubleshoot then says to reinstall the device which I do but it still won't work. I then need to restart my computer for the sound to start working.

Is there any way to fix this? I don't really want to have to go through this every day as this is what it's come to. Thanks.

Go into your system BIOS and make sure that "onboard audio" is enabled because from what you described it sounds like you have onboard sound.

How would I get to the system BIOS in XP?

Lol, your gunna love this, you have to restart, ROFL. Seriusly restart and when it starts to post you press either delete or f8 or esc...it depends on your mobo. But then in your bios you can flip onboard audio on. Although when you reinstalled it did you get the latest drivers?

I recently reinstalled Windows XP Pro. Now, I have no sound. It only seems to work with the old Windows XP Pro. Why is that?

When I try and open volume control, I get this: There are no active mixer devices available. . .
