Sound system

Situation: I'm getting a new room come july for my last year at uni and it's fairly big so would like a sound system to go with it. I have no idea on what i need to accomplish what i want done.

So basically, i have a laptop, a crt tv, a dvd player and a freeview box, and an ipod. The dvd player, freeview box and tv i know how to wire up (not that hard i know) so that the sound plays through the tv speakers. The tv only has space for two leads to come out of it, one for the aerial and one for a scart lead.

I want to make it so that i can play music through the laptop into the sound system, and through the tv into the sound system. One at a time is fine as i can change the lead (if its not too hard to change). Also, i'd like a separate Radio and CD player to always be connected to the sound system.

Finally, this would give me four remotes, a tv remote, freeview remote, dvd remote and speakers remote (hopefully). Would there be any kind of multi-remote that can put all of these into one with some configuration.

I'd like the sound system to be 2.0 or 2.1 but if a 5.1 arises i wouldn't be bothered.

Money limit is £100 GBP, can jump up to £150 if need be but would rather stick to the lower limit.

If the tv doesn't have an audio out then you won't be able to take sound out of it - the scart connections are always 'ins'. Pretty much all dvd players have phono outs though, so what you need is an integrated amplifier. You can then take the outputs of the dvd and laptop into that, and onto 2 speakers. All of this would probably be second hand, ebay is the way!

If you have to hear the tv through the speakers, (and this might be wrong, but it makes sense to me, although i've never tried it), you could get a scart to 3 phono converter, then take the white and red (left and right) audio phonos to the amp, and the yellow (video) phono to the tv, and plug it into a second phono to scart converter. This way the sound would come through the seperate speakers, bu the volume would be controlled by the amp (or the freeview box if that has its own volume).

A cheap pair of speakers should be easy enough to find for well under £100

They won't sound as good as a nice pair of speakers, but they'll have nice strong bass, and will doubtless involve less hassel.

So i basically just need an amp with a few different leads, a set of speakers and a radio/CD player. Sounds easy enough. Thanks for the help!
