sound problems

The audio worked perfectly on my computer for years until I had to restart my computer with the button on the front, because the computer had locked up. When I turned the computer on all that was left was very faint sound that was muffled by crackling and scratching, and this was only audible when all of the system volume was turned all the way up and also the volume of the speakers were turned up. So I bought a "Ensemble envy24" sound card. The sound card fixed the problem. But recently the audio began to do this again. I am at a loss for what to do.

Could this be a problem with my mother board?

any help would be greatly appreciated because I use my computer mainly for media purposes and without sound it is useless to me

It almost sounds like there might be some sort of power feedback with your motherboard and the interface port with your soundcard... Probably originally happened when you had to hard reboot the computer, and probably sent a surge that happened to go to the sound card. Unfortunately all that really can be done, at least what it sounds like to me is to replace the mobo completely. What do you think, guys?

Never heard of it,tell me more,what did you dispose of ?
You may have badly plugged in cards and ruined the port.Only you know this.
 
im sorry the sound card is a CHAINTECH AV-710 Sound Card. and the origional sound was the onboard sound the onboard sound got messed up so i purchased the chaintech card but after a few weeks it started the same problems

do you think switching the card to a diferent pci slot would help?

hey guys the audio just magicly reapeared, i didnt do anything it just came back so there probobly is a problem with the mother board, but for now im happy :D ty for all your help.

Since you asked,
do you think switching the card to a diferent pci slot would help?
Yes use the one farthest from the power supply.
But be sure to completely remove all power while doing this.
Shut down,set pws switch to off,pull out the plug.
Remove your static by touching the case.
