SOUND PROBLEMS (obviously)

SO i just put together my computer. Now I put on my headphones and when im playing games or listening to music, the sound comes and goes. fades in and out. some times i dont even hear anything and sometimes it's really loud. What could be wrong?

I reinstalled the driver, and I changed the settings to see if that was it. I even switched headphones but they all yield no results.

Any clues?

ok i just fixed it with an OLDER driver....

the version that worked was older than the version that came with my motherboard support package. Does anyone have any clue as to why that is? Thanks a bunch fellas
