Sound problem

I am having a bit of a problem with my sound. It just started a couple days ago. My sound sounds distant, kind of echo-ey. When I turn the sound off it kind of fades away. Music that usually sounds crisp and clean sounds like it was crappily recorded at a live performance. Any idea what the problem might be?

try reinstalling your soundcard drivers to see if that works and see if all your connections on your speakers are connected firmly.
