Sound Problem

I have a sound card built in on my motherboard and I had to reinstall the OS and I hooked my speakers up and had no sound. Could some one tell me how to fix this problem.

I have a similar problem. Been into BIOS and it shows onboard audio as "available". I run a CD and media player tells me there is no audio device.
HELP !!
