Sound Problem - one through left speaker

Hey

I am currently having problems with my computer. All sound is going through my right speaker.

Here goes some info:

*I have tried 3 different sets of speakers/headphones, it's the same case with them all. including brand new speakers.
*I have tried both the speaker plug and headphones plug. Same happens in both.
*I have checked the sound properties and stuff. I made sure the little bar wasn't on the right only. It's on center. Infact, when I move it to the left fully, no sound plays at all. In the center position it only plays as if it was across to the right. Nothing is muted. I tried turning thins up and down.
*There is an NVidia NV mixer program on the computer. I checked through allt he options on that and it seems to not help the problem when I play with the dials and stuff.

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? When I have the plug about halfway into the hole, I can make sound come through both sides, however there is static noise over top of it and the quality of the sound is bad.

There must be a way to fix this. Please let me know. Cheers.

i'd try updating drivers, if that fails uninstall everything to do with sounds than reinstall it.
I had the same problem 2 days ago untill i jigged the audio jack around.

Also are you using vista?

Srry after reading the WHOLE thing i think your problem is more to do with a faulty input jack try wiggling it and twisting it.

Here goes sometin else interesting.

I have microphone volume on mute. When I speak into my microphone it come out the left speaker (the one which plays no normal audio) only. Any ideas?

I havn't played with any cables yet. I'm a bit scared of doing it. I'll try get a friend to help.

Most likely the Sound card slot. The best thing to do is literally just jig the jack around in the slot untill it works properly, if that doesn't work you need to look into getting a new sound card. You can cards which are noticably better than a built in sound card for only £15/$30

Hope this helps

Sure you dont have the speakers pluged into the mic port and the mic in the speaker port and the jack sensor is just doing the best it can
