sound muffling maybe...

well my rents go to bed at like 10 and they always bang on the floor telling me to turn it down... its at 5%! seriously! i can barely hear it and theyre telling me to turn it down, i mean i never had this problem before i moved from the attic to the basement (which came with some temperature benefits)
but do you have any idea as to how i can muffle the noise from getting up there? they claim its not the bass thats doing it, the subwoofer's dial is actually all the way down...

Well, they could just be doing it just cause. Or maybe the echos are being transfered differently from the basement as opposed to the attic. As the example snakes are able to sense sound vibrations on the ground, so maybe it's conducting the sound.
