sound issues with audigy 2

Hi all

I had been running the combo, Creative soundblaster audigy 2 with creative soundworks 550THX for many years without any problems at all. Just recently after formating the harddrives and reinstalling windows, the sound started to come out crappy.

It sound like the base unit tries to play the higher frequencies, and the really deep and heavy baselines dont come out at all, thou the sattelites plays just fine... so no problems there.

Thing i've tried so far is:
1. Trying all of the available official drivers at support.creative.com
2. Trying alternative drivers from Kxproject.com
3. Testing with the integrated motherboard soundcard (still same problem)
4. Playing around with windows sound options.
5. I have ofcourse checked all of the cables etc..

I hope i can get more things to try from you guys, cuz i ran out of ideas... i really hate bad music quality :P

The computer in question is:

os: Win xp pro, sp3
motherboard: Asus P5LD2-VM
memmory: 2gb pc5300
cpu: dualcore intel 1,8ghz
soundcard: audigy 2
speakersystem: creative soundworks 550thx

This tells me that it is a driver issue.

How did you go about installing the new drivers? The one at the top of the list here should work: http://support.creative.com/Product...igy 2&subCatName=Audigy&CatName=Sound+Blaster

What are you showing under Start-->Control Panel-->Sounds and Audio Devices--> Hardware tab?

What about the your speaker setup under Audio Tab-->Sound Playback - Advanced button?

I tried those drivers aswell. Under the hardware tab i got "Creative Audigy Audio Processor" installed, and there is no questionmarks what so ever.

aswell the speaker setup is set to 5.1 configuration, and all 5 speakers sound great.... I'm totally puzzled, could there be a problem with the base unit?
