Sound Issues After Reformat.

Allright first I am using a Emachine T3882 and due to a system restore problem I had to replace my OS (windows xp home) with Windows Media Lite. Now I updated most of my current drives so everything but my sound and my mic is working now.

Problem is I can't find my actual audio driver in device manager nor can I find a driver update to fix the problem. The only drivers I found it said was working (which since I have no sound I disagree)

It says my Audio drive is a : AC-97 over @

Note this is the first reformat so dumb it down for me if possible.

Thanks for the any advice/help ya can give to me.

i believe that the driver you are looking for may be specific to your motherboard even though the integrated audio chip is virtually generic.
i would check out your manufacturer's site to see what they have

I found a site before that will scan your computers hardware and tell you what drivers you need, but for the life of me I cant find it again. Anyone know what this site is?

Yes I checked the tech support they sent me to a link to a program that didn't do anything for my system claiming that it would fix my audio.

I also didn't know but the previous owner made some back up disks for the system. I got them and did another format and installed the drivers using those disks which seemed to be good. I now have ability to use my mic and had no problems getting my network set up.
Problem is I have audio now but I have to turn the speakers ALL the way up for a little sound which isn't right.
Any ideas on what could be the issue now or perhaps know of that site that could tell me what I need to look for?
The Intel site dosen't have what I am looking for and I couldn't find anything on Driverguide.com
