I was wondering what the best sound card will be for my computer. I was goining to get the logitech z-5500. What is a good sound card that isn't to high in price but not a piece of crap either and will still sound good. Also is the logitech z-5500 a good system. Thanks Matt

Yes the z-5500's are excellent speakers. Well one of the best cards out now is the X-Fi XtremeMusic for $100-$130, or for a little cheaper is the Audigy 2ZS for $80-$100.

If your computer supports 5.1 Surround Sound (4 audio plugs for the speakers), then you dont need one. However the difference between onboard and the X-Fi is deffinetly noticable, but then again its not a necessity.

Thanks a lot your birthday by the way is two days before mine. A little off topic but yea. Anyway Thanks A lot.:)

just to let you know i have the Z-5500 and the Xtreme music and i dont think onboard sound wont sound that good with these speakers cause when i had my live 24 bit card it didnt sound as good as the x-fi so i would suspect that it would sound alot worse with onboard.

True, i have the z-5300 speakers and when i went from onboard to the X-Fi, the quality was much better. The 24-bit crystalizer had a lot to do with it im sure.

The point is, you may not need them, but you would be glad you got it.

The best Soundcard would be X-Fi fatal1ty Fps Soundcard. And the speakers Would be Panasonic SC-HT95 5.1 Channel Home Theater System W/ Receiver. Those Speakers will pwn the Logitech z 5500. And save you the money.

My Friend got the Z 5500 And it doesnt go that loud compare to the HOME THEATHER AND THE QUILTY IS A DIFFERENCE TOO.

GO FOR HOME THEATHER SYSTEM IF YOU EVER WANT TO HEAR QUILTY TYPE SOUND.

I dont know what your talking about, my z-5300's can go up extremely loud. I never turned it higher than 3/4 of the max volume since its deffining (sp?) at that volume. Although im not saying that the panasonics arent better, im just saying that the z-5500's do not suck.
