Sound Card Thoughts and Opinions

I come to the forum once again to get advice towards a sound card. The primary use, at least in the beginning, will be just playing music while working. Later, I might have the computer as my "entertainment center," playing movies and such. My first choice is/was this one:

I believe that it's well thought of by the members here and would be a good choice....and that's good enough for me.

BUT....I was nosing around and spotted this one with a rather generous rebate:

Is this one a turkey and they're trying to unload it? Is it "better" than the first one?

The Fatal1ty Professional Series is a good deal, that is if you think you will really get the rebate.

Better than X-Fi's of the same price, and it is easier to work with and install.
