Sound Card Problem

I got a pc from a work that closed down, the soundcard and everything works when it had windows 98 running on it. I installed xp onto it (P3, 256 Ram) and now the sound card isn't even detected, any help on where i can find out what drivers i need, really anything would help.

Thanks.

Depending on the age of the card, make, and model you may simply need a new card. Without knowing the make and model you can go through an endless list of generic drivers trying to find a set that will work.

Was it in a complete or custom case? If it was a complete(the usual for businesses) the support site for the make of the system itself if still available would have the needed drivers there.

download and run Belarc advisor, it's free. it should tell you what type of sound card you're using, and it'll give you other info that'll be great down the road.
