Sound Card Power

I am building a new computer and wish to use it to replace my stereo reciever. Will a sound card put out the same amount of power as a stereo reciever? Can I use the same large, unpowered speakers, or do I need to get a powered set? Is a sound card output capable of giving me 100W X 2 channels? If so, how can you tell the power output of a sound card?

LOL, I think most soundcards put out about 2-5 watts per channel(if that much). Why do you think computer speakers are amplified?

You will need to either get a separate amplifier to power your speakers or a new, powered speakers. You could always just run the signal through your reciever because then you won't have to buy anything and the reciever will power your speakers.
