Sound Card no longer works...

I "installed" unbuntu 8.10 (64-bit I believe) with Wubi a month or two back, and at one point, my sound card randomly stopped working. My headphone jack still works, so I've been using that for the longest time, but I decided its about time i ironed it out. I'm using an Audigy 2 card, which seems to be recognised fine by ubuntu, as well as saying its being used, but when i plug in the speakers, nothing comes out. I'm baffled as to what the issue could be, especially since it stopped totally out of the blue. The card works fine in XP btw, so I know its fine.

This is most likely a driver issue. I would do a Google on the Audigy2 card and see what Linux drivers there are for Ubuntu. Even though it's listed under Ubuntu it might not have the driver, or the correct one.

if it isn't the drivers make sure your setting for audio are not set to digital output or you won't get sound either.

Yup, that did it, took a bit of snooping around to figure out how to do so, but I would've been endlessly re-installing drivers and other packages were it not for that helpful pointer, many thanks:D
