Sound Card help

it depends on what brand and interface the card is. a Xonar PCIe x1 is on average a lot more expensive than a Rocketfish PCI card.

I would say, somewhere around $60, to take into account the really expensive ones and the really cheap ones.

edit: I think he made that case real well.

Just get a motherboard that has a PCIe slot and it will work. Most, as in 99.98%, new motherboards have a PCIe x16 and PCIe x1 slot.

Would this mother board need a sound card if I want to use a speaker.

no. It has a integrated sound card, but a sound card will give better sound quality. That will only help if you have a quality set of speakers/headphones.
