Hi all,
I really need some help with this one. Quite a while ago the on board sound card on my desktop computer began cutting in and out and finally it has just stopped working completely.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the original drivers, and also tried with the latest drivers found online with no luck.
I have also gone to the extent of buying an additional sound card to use instead of the on-board sound card on the motherboard. Once again uninstalling and reinstlling the sound card with the drivers provided on the new card. This has not worked either.
I can rule out the speakers as i have tried numerous sets. I just want to hear again! Weather it is from the on board sound card or the new sound card i have sitting in the packaging can anyone help?
I have an AOPEN I915GM-IE mother board running windows xp. 2gb ram P4. It had a realtek on board 5.1 cound caard as standard which i was more than happy with for my uses...
The sound card i went and purchased is an APOWER pci to 5.1 'generic' sound card. CMI8738 chipset (if it helps)....
Any help or direction on correcting this issue will be VERY appreciated.
I am by no means a computer expert but wouldnt have though it hard to slot in a PCI sound card and install the drivers.... obviously i was wrong....
