sound card for mmo?

I know absolutely nothing about sound cards lol, thats why im posting here :] when i get my dream computer,hopefully soon, i plan on playing mmo's and games like the sims 3. I have an xbox 360 to play any other type of game. would i even need to upgrade my sounds card for the type of games il be playing on my pc?

Generally speeking, the sound card in the motherboard is enough for that.
Don't buy a soundcard if it less than 5.1 otherwise it sounds pretty horrible. I know from experience, a $5 soundcard from china is not high quality.
 
Don't get a soundcard unless you have good speakers to go with it, otherwise it's rather useless. Some soundcards also upmix stereo music to 5.1 or 7.1.
