Sony or Kodak?

The thing with the Sony is that the MP is lower and they use their own memory sticks that may not work with your printer.

I like Kodak, still using one that my dad got back in the 50's. They specialize in cameras and camera equipment, so I would choose theirs.

Good Luck!

Kodak's are decent lower level cameras... I have a cheaper one and it does pretty well. However, most of them are very sluggish and don't do macro's very well(or just any closer focusing in general...)

Sony's are some fairly high quality camera's , but I've heard of quality issues with their slim cameras. Stick with their larger ones.

Between those two cameras, the Sony's got a much better lens, but the Kodak does have a slightly larger CCD. The difference in the MP, though, probably wouldn't make much of a difference. I'd probably get the Sony, but personally, I stay away from such small cameras...

ya I have a Kodak Z740 and when you zoom in you pretty much have to keep it dead steady just to get a somewhat clear picture. So beware of that. You should definitely test out a camera before you buy.

I agree mostly with what TOO said. The Sony's lens is definitely better, but the Kodak lens isn't all that bad either. Furthermore, the MP rating doesn't really matter between the two cameras. However, the Kodak does have an anti-blur feature as well as a little better sensitivity in low lights. Between the two, the Kodak would be the better choice.

If you can spend a little more money, Canon tends to have the best pocket-sized cameras. This camera here would be better than either the Kodak or Sony: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...CategoryId=pcmcat99000050010&id=1170290185930

I've seen my fair share of kodak and Sony cameras, and I have to say that I'd go for the Sony. I don't see what people have against Sony, I've always been very pleased with all my Sony products.

I have that problem with my Olympus. The digital zoom just plain bites, but the rest of the camera is great.

Personally, I love Sony. Everything I ever bought from them runs perfect and stays perfect. I still have a Sony turntable from the 80s that works wonderfully. :D

i am going to be in the market for a new digital camera soon myself.

right now i have a kodak cx4300, 3.2mp. there is no optical zoom and the digital zoom gets pretty grainy. big and bulky too. plus the software is slow. but, for what it is, it does the job. not many bells or whistles, but a good entry level camera. the reason i have to get a new one is that i knocked it off the coffee table. when it hit the floor, the battery door popped open. well, one of the little tabs that keep the battery door on the camera broke, so now the door pops open (and falls off) and the batteries fall out!!! so unless you feel like holding the thing closed..tight...its a waste of time. which sucks cause now its pretty much useless. :(

both the kodak and the sony look pretty good to me. they are about the same, give or take. but i would have to say that i would trust kodak over sony when it comes to cameras(personal opinion). like someone else said, cameras are kodaks specialty. but sony does make good products too. the only thing i steer clear of when it comes to sony is there car stereo equiptment and laser-based products. not saying they arent any good, but for car stuff, you can get a lot better product at the same price from several other companies. and for cd players (discmans, car cd players, and home stereo cd players) and game consoles (namely ps2), ive seen too many fail for me to go out and buy one. but other than that, sony usually does a good job.

but yeah, shop around and test it out before you buy. but we all know its hard to give it a real test at the store. but best buy, and most other places like that, usually have a 30-day return policy. but beware the possible "restocking fee". sometimes they hit you with that ...about 10% or so of the items cost. so ask them about that too, before you buy.

good luck!!!

I would go with Sony. I have a Kodak camera that has caused me so many problems. Horrible battery life, it has given out twice now, horrible support from Kodak in general, it took horrible pictures at 3.2MP, etc. I would settle for anything besides Kodak.
