songs skipping

hey guys im new here. I have a myspace and when ever i go to someone's page the song starts to play all through it, it skips i cant even here 1 word :confused: what can i do to fix this, upgrade the sound card?
 
probably a driver conflict.....

or your processor's overheating.

if it's a p4/celeron from the p4 era, they actually throttle themselves when they're approaching their thermal limit, and cause very choppy performance. and since it doiesn't have a voltage-adjustment throttling ability like the AMD cool n' quiet, or a laptop processor, instead of just slowing the processor down when it gets too hot, it throttles it by rapidly pausing, and unpausing the processor, which makes your computer extremely jerky

I doubt its any of the above...

does it skip when you listen to songs on your computer? If it only skips with songs online, its (most likely) just because its streaming the song, and isnt buffering fast enough, you'll have to pause it, let it "load" for awhile before you can play the song.

Same thing goes for videos (for example, sometimes you have to do the same thing on youtube)
 
yes its only online cds play fine, same with movies, they buffer fine, but when i go to myspace the song always skip, could it be because im on dial-up? were getting fiber optics out here very very soon.

That would of been nice to know from the get-go :P Hehe, I'd have to say that must be your problem... Your running out of buffer and unable to stream online media.

If not on Myspace, I know on imeem songs will basically load then you can skip around and what not on the song. Try some music there. There's a progress bar, so be sure the song is completely loaded first.
 
you're still discounting the fact that cd's and movies are both processed by your audio card and video card respectively, while embedded audio/video are not hardware accelerated.

when i think of 'skipping' i think of something starting and stopping quickly. if it was a network problem it would be more of playing, and then pausing for a substantial period of time, and then playing again for a while....

so does your music SKIP or just start, and then stop again?
