software to Harddrive

I use my computer mainly working on and recording my family history and this causes me to use several Cd's most of the time and this gets very tedious,in and out all day, this will soon wear out the drive (and my arm.)
I have been told there is a way to put the complete CD to my hard drive and access the information from the HD, but how is this done?
Please remember I am 66 years and slow on the pick up with these matters.
Any help would be great

Ron

Thanks for your reply, gave that a go ,does not work ,still calls for the CD.These Digger disks have start up files that is installed to the HD and when you click on say the "Great War Index" it then calls for the CD.
My problem is to have it call for the information that's has been loaded on the HD

Maybe you could create ISO's of the disc's and then mount them on a virtual drive?

Watch this youtube video on how to make ISO images:

[yt]<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Hc3R-kfN3ZQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Hc3R-kfN3ZQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>[/yt]

Then you can mount the images with DaemonTools.

Download DaemonTools Lite form this link:
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/downloads/dtLite

And then watch this video on how to install and use Daemon tools:
[yt]<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jvKpYsuyN-o&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jvKpYsuyN-o&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>[/yt]
